So I have inherited a small job in a commercial clients own home. they want extra sockets in a bedroom they are renovating.
The walls are insulation backed plasterboard. I would guess around 25mm insulation on 12.5mm boards.
To add the extra sockets I was thinking of just chasing out the plasterboard. I know the cables won't be very deep but I am also not so keep on removing too much insulation and making cold spots that could cause other issues down the line.
What has anyone else done in situations like this?

Are the boards fixed directly to the brick/blockwork? If not there maybe a gap behind you could fish cables down?

If required though, you shouldn't worry too much about creating cold spots. The little bit of insulation you remove will, once back filled over the cables, be negligible.

As above you could try ramming a cable tongue up the back of the wall to see if you can get a cable up the back.
If that fails then yes cut a minimal channel in the plaster board to get cable in then fill with some plaster then finish with some fine filler.
Make sure circuit is rcd protected
