How hard is it to commission a addressable fire alarm I have been quoted £400 per day(40 points a day). is it possible to do it myself

Reallly depends on system you are working on and what needs to be addressed. If it is relays and interfaces it adds time esp if you are programming them up. Are you using a lap top or via the panel. Also if the wiring is not ok, it can make a difficult as fault finding can eat up time. Good money though for a days work.

To set up the text strings, zonal assignments and any cause and effect programming + testing - 4 or 5 per hour isn't unrealsitic.

How many devices are there?
Is the panel addressable or conventional?
Make of panel?

£300 - £500 is the normal day rate for commissioning, remember that the commissioning could include several hours of writing O&M manuals & autocad drawings dependant on the system size.
