Ive been asked to describe ADS, does anyone know what ads is short for so I can look it up Thanks.

Automatic Disconnection of Supply so can also be referred to as ADOS as well

It used to be EEBADS (Earth Equipetiential bonding and automatic disconnection of supply ) but changed when 17th came out i think it was then , now it ADS and as the other guys have said its Automatic disconnection of the supply

Ive been trying to find out why a socket in a bathroom provides protection from electric shock but havent had much luck so dont know how to describe why?

not quite with you there. socket in a bathroom is a no-no. unless 3m from bath, where bathroom is perhaps a bathroom/dressing room. would have to be RCD protected, so that's how it provides protection from shock, as well as the ADS due to presence of a fault

would it be any different if it was a shaver socket

M8 tell me do the regs mention a lenth of lead when the socket is 3m from the bath? just thinking of something with a 3m flex on it. Looked at Spanish regs on bathroom zones and no mention of lead lenth, just the zones and what you can put in them.......Strange!

Shaver sockets to BS EN 60742 can be put in zone 2.
