What are the reasons for using PVC singles in say a commercial installation such as a workshop that would use metal trunking/conduit as the containment, why not use twin and earth?

All I've got so far is, 'because that's just what you do', but I'm not sure that's an adequate answer!

Cheers

Mechanical protection
Ease of wiring
Cost
Example1
RFC in steel trunking and BE or Galv conduit, ever tried feeding two 2.5 twin and cpc down a piece of tube with bends and double sets?
Example 2
supply to a piece of kit that needs a cable sized at say 10mm, you try sliding 10mm twin and cpc down some conduit:
There will be other reasons I'm sure but just a few to be getting on with.

Is this a homework question, your profile doesn't list you as anything so I 'm assuming you are a trainee.

Thanks Pete, I'm just working my way through unit 305 for the C&G 2365, so yes a trainee at the moment, but not for much longer hopefully!

Cheers

also has the advantage of running L and N separate. e.g. L to switch then to light. N direct to light.

Just had a thought, may i be correct in thinking that PVC singles are more suitable to this environment because they are also stranded and therefore less likely to come loose under vibration in a workshop environment?

Thanks
