Does anyone advertise on the internet as a electrician for your local area? The reason i am asking the question is i advertise in a local paper in Manchester which costs a fortune! and i recentley spoke to a plumber who told me i need to start advertising on the internet instead because thats where everyone looks these days.
He told me he uses pay per click and his calls has improved by 50% which has enabled him to drop his local newspaper advertising altogether.
Im just wary of paying a pay per click with an internet company if this guy is talking rubbish - Any feedback welcombe - thanks!

I don't pay for any advertising and it works ok, I'm not always rushed off my feet but have a good steady flow of work, which is ideal. All that is from my website and any free listing websites, of which there are alot! Google free advertising online!

I LOVE Google adwords, gets me loads of work.

I do also have a large and expensive advert in the weekly local paper as feel the 'presence' helps in overall marketing!

I don't personally but my boss advertises alot on google adwords, he said its quite expensive, but the returns can be very good gets a few calls a week though his site

Google Adwords can be very costly if you dn't have a good grasp of it. You really need to understand 'Keyword Research' to get the best out of it. I recommend that you learn as uch as you can before you start laying out the cash.

Good book- Google Adwords for Dummies

Personally I would look for high search terms and create some pages concentrated on those, ie 'newport electrician' 'swansea electrician' Do some research and find those local terms and you can get to page one on google for free.
