Hi all
Recently changed a consumer unit , adding new radial, bonding etc for my initial assessment, IR tested everything initially and before been terminated in new board, all readings ok.
I'm sure I've read that if it is a new installation that the board as a whole need testing?

My question is how can you test the whole installation when it is a wylex split board with 2 rcd's as the 500v could damage them?

Thanks in advance for your comments

Always been told, (and agree with), that IR testing is done after termination of all conductors, accessories screwed on etc. etc.

You might damage or tighten down on a conductor when terminating and you wouldn't know.:)

As for the testing,

If you don't want to by-pass RCDs and test whole board,

Loads removed, MCBs off, outgoing side of each MCB to neutral bar/s and then to earth bar/s. Test between neutral bar/s and earth bar/s. Job done.
