Hi Folks,

Great forum - warm welcome thanks.

Boy I am glad I found this place.

I have been out of the game for almost 10 years now. I see a lot has changed.

I have an oppurtunity to oil up the pliers and do some work, however I can see it's not going to be as easy as that.

I have tried to keep up with the changes but when your not putting it into practice on a daily basis its difficult to comprehend.

I want to get registered for Part 'P' and my question really is,
Can someone advise me on a step by step proceedure of getting back into it please?

Do I do a couple of jobs that require notification to LABC and get them inspected and then decide on which governing body to sign up with? etc etc....

What test gear do I need and which is the best, seperates or a multi tester?

Any advice will be much appreciated, I need some Inspiration. I am mainly from a domestic background 15th and 16th editon.

Thanks.:)

Depends what qualifications you have already. Part P requires EAL VRQ and 17th edition then your assessment as for tools multitester is my choice if you go to the ableskills website that will show all that is needed

Best of luck

Chris

Thanks,

My Quals are City and Guilds Part 1 and 2 Electrical Installation Taken 1988/89
And City and Guilds 16th edition 1994 amongst others PAT testing, etc..

So, Will I have to sit a 17th Ed exam ? Even though I am qualified to carry out electrical Installations.

Is not just adhering to the current regs enough?

Hi i had the same situation as you i had the 16th that i sat in 94 packed up to be a house husband after 6 years her indoors lost her job so it was time to clen the tool up. I singed up to skills 4 you in crawley sussex took the 17th and the building regs and then joined Elecsa its been a year now my next assesment is in two weeks it has cost a lot of money but i have done well
