I have got my select assesment on friday and have basically everything ready,1 of the jobs that I am going to use was a kitchen re-fit i done a few months ago,at the time I advised the client that there CU didnt meet 17th regs as it only had mcb's with a main switch and no rcd protection present but as there were no new circuits involved in this job the client didnt want there cu changed ,said they would do it in the near future,I made a note of this in there test sheets and paperwork that CU needs upgraded,Am I right in thinking its only complete new circuits that require to comply with latest regs and existing circuits all you can do is advise the client to upgrade there CU or fit RCBO'S,will this job be ok to put forward for my assesment or will i need to ensure all circuits that I altered meet 17th regs???

You need to ensure that the work you have done complies to the current edition of the wiring regs, if that means altering the whole circuit rather than just your addition to comply that is your call.

As long as what you have done complies with the relevant area's of the regs it will comply.

All bonding and earthing is up to date, only thing im bothered about is the kitchen ring and lights not rcd protected, think i will fit rcbo's just to make sure although they were existing circuits and I just moved a couple of sockets and switches.

definitely RCBO on the sockets. lighting if cables buried <50mm deep without earthed metallic conduit. when they have the CU upgraded, you can reclaim the RCBOs if not required.
