Hello all,

I was wondering if any of you qualified people could give advice on how to secure an apprenticeship with a potential employer. I have recently passed the JTL assessment and been placed on their approved candidate List. I'm 21 and live in the yorkshire area

I have an up to date CV ( currently working on a cover letter which isn't going well)

Any more suggestions?

thank you in advanced.

Don't put all your eggs in one basket and proof read your CV a million times.
Also don't panic about the cover letter too much, it's just an short paragraph who you are and why you want the post. The CV gets your foot in the door for interview.

hello mate, i'm new too but a bit of advice i may be able to give you.

Sell yourself in your cv, leave nothing out (wig wam builders badge in the cubs included) lol.
you need to let a potential employer know all about you as well as your qualifications. they want to know the type of person you are before giving you a chance. can you drive? clean licence, do you play sports (team player) dont mind working over time, enjoy seeing a job through from start to finish. wot interestted you into the electrical trade how far you plan on going with your qualification.
if you have any previos employmeny history, can offer a reference it all helps make you look good on paper and worth a shot of an interview at leas!!

Good luck mate. Allister

Remember if you do your CV in MS word never email it to potential employers as their virus system with flag danger on it as its a good way to sneak a virus in so if you have Word 2007 onwards it has a utility to convert your CV to a pdf document plus its locked as well if you have Word 2003 then you will have to get a virtual printer that converts it to pdf
