Yes you still need a calibration cert every twelve months. Useless bit of kit really

ok cheers i thought so its handy to have your calibration is like mot tester was good on that day etc so good to check with this card every so often can do no harm i suppose thanks

I'm pulling your leg mate they are a cracking bit of kit and can imagine in the future everyone will be advised to have one.

I have my meters callibrated yearly, but there are opinions around that as long as the readings are near as dam it the same on a monthly basis, the readings logged on that callibration chart thingy, then the schemes may accept the log book as the meters are satisfactory

I dont think there is anything in black and white to say that we have to have 12 monthly callibration certificates

Best bet is teephone your assessor and see what he will accept
Anything to save un needed expense is always welcome

Hi mate let us know what they say as i am in same situation debating wether to send for calibration or buy one of these or checkbox as i heard they accept this for upto 3 years if you do monthly checks

I'm sure I read somewhere that Elecsa will accept the Calcard system instead of calibration for up to two years.

They won't. I speak from experience. The Calcard is great if you get dodgy results and need to compare, or for keeping an eye on your tester, but unfortunately it cannot check Voltage, RCD trip, and PEFC/PSCC etc. So yes it needs annual calibration.

Cheers...........Howard

ELECSA Part P Scheme
Insulation and Continuity test instrument accuracy and consistency monitored using the
CalCard Ext1 in line with these instructions will be accepted by ELECSA assessors.
As this product is guaranteed for 3 years ELECSA will accept a 3 year period between formal
calibration of the test instrument

Hi RWJ and SIRKIT BREAKER

I know the calcard is for checking continuing accuracy for continuity and IR but as S B says you need to also check Voltage , PFC, Zs and RCD I had been told that these can be checked using a dedicated socket outlet used for test purposes

But if you have a Dual RCD ccu and there are no spare ways and no unprotected ways then how is this achieved as you will not be able to check the High Zs setting

So is the only alternative to get a Full Checkbox that checks the full range of tests
