Hi

I did 3years of an electrical apprentaship, but sadly this got cut short before i became qualified. It was with a contractor and through the JIB. i completed all my college work and have the relevent city and guilds certificates. I also completed 2 log books.I had about 8 months to 1 year experiance left a 3rd year log book to complete and AM2 to sit.

It has since been about 5 years and i have been working as a data cabler installing mainly cat5 but occasionally some other wiring systems, and also quite abit of AV, projectors, tvs smartboards etc. I have always wanted to finish my electrical but kind of got stuck in the flow of getting by. I have applied to many firms but no one seems to want a half and half guy, my current company have tried with the JIB but it seems they dont cover enoguh variety of electrical work, mainly just single/ double sockets.

I really want to finish my electrical but am finding it very difficult to work a practical solution to qualifying. Any ideas or personal experiances would be greatly appreciated.

p.s
I thought of paying for test and inspection course passing it and maybe would make me more attractive to electrical contractors.

+ does any one know if there is a need for electricians mates on the olympics, and if so would it be possible to work through an agency and personally pay JIB to oversee my completion?

Kind Regards

Luke
