Hello

I wondered if some one could give me some advice please - I run a small car repair garage and my insurance company has requested that I get the electrics inspected. Can you please tell me what would be involved, how long it is likely to take, and how much it is likely to cost.

I have two 3 phase lifts (Ramps), a 3 phase rolling road for MOT, 12 flourescant strip lights, ten sockets in the workshop, 6 sockets in office plus lighting etc.

My landlord told me the electrics were all checked before I moved in but has not been able to tell me who did it or provide me with any paperwork, so I am not sure how long ago or if and when it has been tested.

Thank you in anticipation.

Hi.

You need whats called a Periodic Inspection Report (P.I.R) for short. This entails an electrician visualy inspecting and testing the fixed wiring and accessories at your garage.

Depending on how thorough he is, can take a day or more.

I have had two Electricians look but niether has got back with a quote so can only assume they are not interested. Any idea how much this sort of thing normally costs?
