I

ICE

Hello O fountain of all Knowledge,

I am currently employed but wish to set up on my own with niceic membership
however niceic state that you have to be trading for 6 months and have work to show them.

I have been sparking for 25 years or there abouts and have done hundreds upon hundreds of jobs but not as my own as Ido it for my employer.
how can I get work without being registered with a body and how can I get registered without trading for 6 months.

Its catch 22

Can anyone advise? :confused::confused::confused:

What happened with me was: I did a rewire and notified it to LABC. Then did 1 fuseboard change and outside socket, and used this as the job to show the ELECSA assessor. I also showed the assessor the test certs for the rewire and told him it was signed off with LABC.

I went with ELECSA though, not NICEIC. They had no minimum trading time or anything. I'd only qualified about 3 months before i had to go out on my own.

Good luck with it, i hope you get more work in than i have!
