Hi

Got a job coming up on a village hall with a large roof overhang. The inverter is going to located in a plant room which is at the opposite ends to were the PV panels are mounted.

Ive not done a job like this before and therefore i need some advice.

The main DC cables are coming from the plant room, under the floor then out and up the wall to the roof - my query is: Because of the large overhang how do i get the cables onto the roof? Naturelly i cant take the around the guttering, so is it ok to make a small opening in the overhang and feed the DC cables upto the array under the tiles and bring them out under the array?

With it being a village hall there are high open vaulted ceilings inside and normally im used to working in loft spaces.

Any help would be appreciated.

im not a PV expert mate, but if i had to mount anything electrical on a roof, i would try and bring the cable out from under a tile, so that the roof retains its integrity. in other words, lift a tile up and wedge it open. poke your cable though, and protect it with some conduit maybe. lay the tile back down, and seal around the cable if neccesarry.

Is it possible to lift a tile, and notch the one underneath with a grinder?

Thanks - fetching the cables out isnt the problem, my query is regardign passing the wires from the wall onto the roof - except this building has a 2 foot overhang, and i was curious to know how others would get the cables through the overhang, but in typing this i kinda figured it myself.

Cheers
