Q

quaz

hi been reading this forum for a while but never posted, anyway

i recently completed my apprenticeship and when it came to being graded my company laid me off, my card has just come through and under qualifications it says completed apprenticeship nvq level 3. Does this mean that i will have to take a 17th edition course or should i have it anyway? cheers

My understanding, is that if you took any exams after the introduction of the 17th, you would be classed as being 17th edition qualified.
However, in that case, I would expect your JIB card to state that you are 17th edition qualified.

I had all this recently, at first we were told that we'd only have to do the update course as we were trained to 17th Edition (2330 2+3) but ended up having to do the full (60 question) exam

So in answer to the OP you'll need to do the exam

I think they make it up as they go along.
I recently took the 17th, back in April or May I think.
I know that I took the 16th at a time which allowed me to just have to take the update.
I still ended up having to do the full 2 hour test.
The thing is, my brother took the 2391 just befor the 17th came out.
There was some cock up, he had two different student numbers for the theory and the practical.
By the time it was sorted out, the 17th was in.
He sent off to have his card updated to include the 2391, and it came back showing that he is 17th qualified.
I wouldn't mind, but he did his 2360 to the 15th, and has never done an update course, not even for the 16th.

there was a lot of confusion as to what edition we would be qualified to as it changed during my apprenticeship[/QUOTE said:
Ohhh i see hmmmm might have to wait to see your card then. Lad i know just passed all his 3 months ago and he did not have to take any extra 17th updates or papers, was all included. I say that though but he said he has hardly in any of his exams touched the 17th book its self. bits here and there but not to level you would if taking as a separate coarse
