HI All. just got a e-mail off my mate davey who went to work in afghanistan and he was told there was work for years out there ,and l had seen a few threads on here about sparks thinking of going ! well he went at the start of january and he was messed about from the start and he has just been told he is being sent home as the work has dried up , so the 3 are on their way home . still he has a cup final to look forward too , has anyone else had a bad experience out there , :(
 
hi Hawk just got another email and the blokes called beeby from nuneaton and he nearly had a few thumps off the sparks , not a nice person , they are on there way back now , will let you know next week how it went as l will speak to them over the weekend , all the best

KBR are the main contractor who operate in afghanistan and iraq.

I was offered a position there 12months ago, working on a US army base, due to my security clearence.

Salary as you imagine was competitive $150,000 per annum tax (only tax free if you complete the 12month contract).

Hours worked is something like 7 x12 hr days for 3months and then 2 weeks off... which is quite a long stretch.

I was quite happy about taking the position, my only stipulation was that i wanted to be confined to the base, which is something they couldnt guarantee.

So ended up turning them down... aint no point earning all that money, if you aint around to spend it.
