Hi Guys,

Just a quick one, If I'm not registered for an agency that puts me forward for an Interview are they still legally entitled to a finders fee? I'm only asking this because I've been offered a permanent job and the agency have told him they want me to go on a 6 month temp contract with them or pay ÂŁ4,500 up front or I can't work for him and he thinkls it's too much. I've never registered with them and they only have my C/V because they got it from the C/V Library.

Thanks Mike

It depends on what contract your prospective employer has with the blood sucking parasites (sorry, I meant agency).
If they have asked the parasites, oops sorry again, to find someone and they find you then yes they're entitled to their pound of flesh. Not from you though.

The fee should be from the employer not you
Yeah sorry if the first post was confusing there trying to charge my new employer ÂŁ4,500
and he thinks its too much as he doesn't actually know if I'm any good or not which is fair enough so the agency basically told me to find something else as I'm not allowed to work for him for 6 months even though I'm not registered with them. I dont't understand how they can tell me not to work for someone?

Tell them you're going to work wherever the hell you like and if they want to they can sue you. You owe this mob nothing. Whether or not your prospective boss does depends on what his arrangement with them was/is. That is his problem not yours.

You might not be registered, but the Agency put both of you in contact with each other, they're entitled to a fee.

Whether that should be what is probably their standard agreed fee is debateable.

What isn't debateable is that if you take the job the Agency will continue to pursue the employer for the fee.

It's the same with Estate agents, I had to prove I'd known the buyer of one of my previous houses before the Estate agent did, the fact we'd worked together for 10 years clinched it.

Trev, first and last warning!!!!

If you continue slagging off agencies (as above) ,I will have no other option than to buy you a pint the next time I see you.

Your payment of a "pint" is subject to contractual deductions of course. These will be 20% tax, 15% finders fee and a charge via an umbrella company to pay the bar staff. You may have enough left over for a packet of pork scratchings pmsl

Get the employer to tell the agency that he has decided to employ someone else with more experience who he found through another agency, then start yourself next week and nobody needs to know any different!! the cheek of these people,I was offered some work and when they said payroll company etc my reply was no thanks forget it!!!

They cant tell you to do anything mate

Now the employers are being held to ransom by these parasitic ticks.
about time they were all kicked into touch.
and since when does some fin haired jonny from an agency decide who or when you can work?
as above advice go and work somewhere for a couple of weeks and then start
who is going to know?
