Aico Smokes.

I recently rewired a house and fitted a smoke detector to in large lounge which tested ok at the time of installation, however since then the client has had a flueless gas fire fitted, after the fire has been on for around 5 minutes the smoke goes off which then sets off the other 5. I have subsequently tried replacing it twice with both optical & ionising detectors. The smoke if fitted around 7 meters from the fire.

Any suggestions why the smoke should go off.

Try the muti aico detector, less sensitive.

If you have tried replacing the detectors twice, ...and with the 2 different varieties of smoke detectors, then it seems as if this new gas fire is emitting combustion particles into the room and the detectors are sensing them. I would get your client to contact the gas fires manufacturer, as this shouldnt be happening...

could it be the newness burning off fire they always smell a bit for a couple of days
