Hi just looking for some advice,i've always fitted the same alarm panels for the last 15 years or so at work they are from city electrical, i also fitted one in my own house, the pcb has now gone faulty. rang city electrical and have been informed they have stopped producing this panel ( well honeywell have who actually manufactured it ), they tell me there isnt a suitable replacement therefore the whole lot requires replacing. the panel in a CEF AP28. Alarms arent really my thing, i can install and service but when it comes to mixing and matching new parts that isn't really where my expertise lie . Any advice would be appreciated.

it'sonly the panel and maybe keypad need replacing. a pic would help, as that cef brand panel may well be a re-badged optima range panel.

The CEF AP28 is no longer made by ADE but my advice is if you are happy with it and dont want any hassle then move over to its sister panel the Optima/Accenta panel this has been on the go for the last 30 years yes thay have improved it but they have the same hierarchy

without a picture, impossible to tell. what's the fault, anyway. could be repairable.

You need to look at a alarm panel the same as a PC after 5 years get a new one they cost between £40-£60 pounds depending on if you want a panel or rkp+end station Also always but always replace the battery as well as the CP is also a battery charger and the lifespan of a battery is 5 years.

I say this as i tried to help a friend replace a faulty rkp that is no longer used I said change the lot for £120 instead he spent £40 on a rkp and spent 2 days trying to get it to work and when he was finished i said so what are you going to do when the othe rkp goes so it is down to economics
