Hi,

I’m fitting an alarm system in my house using Honeywell Active8 PIRs (8 IR 003)

What PIRs should be fitted with the 6000 LUX light filter provided with the PIR?

I’m assuming the PIR in the conservatory should have one and the PIR in a very dark hallway doesn’t need a filter. But what about areas that are quite light but the PIR itself isn’t in direct sunlight?

In very light conditions do the PIR’s simply not detect movement or do they actually trigger false alarms?

Thanks

There is no need to alter any lens, on a Quad pir. The 4 pir elements detect moving heat, and the reason for using 4 elements is to reduce false alarms. The lux level of a room has no real effect on the pir, it will work in total darkness or bright light...

Ok, thanks!

Why is there an option to fit a light filter and why is that filter measured in LUX if the PIRs work with heat?

The PIR I have in the conservatory is in light conditions virtually equal to outdoors. Is there still no need for a filter here?

There is no way indoor lighting will reach 6000 lux, would think honeywell have included the lens for overcoming problems such as conservatory`s, which can be a problem due to retaining heat, and sunlight. But the lens are not required in the rest of the property.
Would always recommend Dual tech sensors in conservatory`s
