hi everyone
This is my first post to introduce myself.Im 30 years old and currently doing an intense course.I have completed my essential electrics,2382,2377,and part p defined scope, ive still got my full scope part p to complete, along with my cscs and 2391.
Im 3 quarters of the way through my course and its dawned on me how nieve i have been in thinking that you can be trained up with only 4 weeks practical under your belt and sent out into the world doing a job that can potentially kill people or destroy property.
Luckily im an all or nothing kind,im really interested in the technical side of the job and i wanna do it right,so ive invested alot of my own money and time in various books and dvd's on top of the reading material provided for the course.
Its a scary thought that a third of the students was just stood scratching there head at the thought of a 2 way light switch, yet we are now classed as competant persons!!! No wonder employers are looking for experience.
Has anyone reading this been successful in getting a job under the same circumstances? and how did you go about it with having no hands on experience?............ideally under someones wing..........oh and as for my gear ive just bought myself a fluke 1653b multitester that gets pollished more than it gets used, the instructions have been hammered tho

hi dave and thanks everyone for the replies, excuse me for my ignorance but is it usually hard to book a 2391 whilst training?
i got it as part of my course, they advised me once my course is completed to work for around 6 months before sitting it.It seems a bit unrealistic to me unless your testing all the time and gain a thorough understanding of what your doing?

It's shocking the standard in which we are sent from the classroom to the customer from my point of view.. My business partner has just finished his first two years and is now so called qualified.. Yeah right.. There is lots to learn post classroom I'm afraid... A hell of a lot and not much guidance.. I completed my 3 yrs in 1999 and then 2391 to start out on my own in 2008 and still learning daily..

I personally just signed up to this thing today, looks like a good set up to gain knowledge of fields yet to be discovered.. Good luck
