find current in each branch without using current dividing rule {i2=i(source)*R1/R1+R2} and conductance method [ i1=(1s*G1)/(G1+G2)] WHERE G=1/R. (see attachment)

What?

Calculate total parallel resistance of the 10, 50, 40 and 200 Ohms
=1/10 + 1/50 + 1/40 +1/200

=1/(0.1+0.02+0.025+0.005)

=1/0.15

=6.6666667 Ohms

We are given a current rather than voltage, so we don't need to consider that 100 ohms in series with the others.

Voltage across that lot is

V=I*R

48*6.6666667 = 320V

Then current through each resistor is

I=V/R

=320/10, 320/50 etc...

slight error there simon. V=I x R, not I / R. so

V = 48 x 6.67 = 320V

I = 1. 30/10=32A, 2. 320/50=6.4A, 3.320/40=8A, 4. 320/200=1.6A added up totals 48A. QED.
