Alternative to RECC :)

So, had our MCS assessment for all our technologies last week, new assessor, (4th one in 5 years) this one the best so far, very much looking to help & assist rather than trip us up

Most interesting item that came up was "were we members of RECC" , "show us your certificates" etc.. the discussion that ensued was that there is an alternative scheme to RECC that is also acceptable.

He wasn't prepared to elaborate at the time, so has anyone else heard anything?

We've not yet paid for 2016, so if something else is about it will be worth investigating.

Looked at the MCS website - Microgeneration Certification Scheme - TSI Consumer Codes Approval Scheme

Apparently its HIES - who also offer the insurance backed schemes for deposit and warranty.

Anyone already use HIES for insurance or use their code?

I had heard of HIES as a provider of insurance-backed guarantees. Didn't realise they were a rival to RECC though (since July 2015 apparently).

Never used them and probably won't sign up with them for 2016. The application process looks like a major faff.
