Hi Guys

Have been asked to quote for a three bed chalet-bungalow (third bed extension upstairs but electrics all place, only two years old, so this part not being touched, just integrated into new CU).

Quote is for:

Kitchen: boiler, washing machine, dishwasher, tumble dryer, fridge, freezer, four double sockets, hob (gas), cooker hood, oven, 6 LED downlights, 4 under cupboard lights.

Bed 1: three double sockets, 1 single socket, 1 tv point, 1 central light.

Bathroom: 1 central light

Hallway: 1 central light, 1 single socket, central light for porch

Bed 2: two double sockets, 1 single socket, 1 tv point, 1 central light.

Storage cupboard: 1 central light

Lounge: 5 double sockets, 8 dimmable LED downlights on two-way switching.

Conservatory: 1 double socket, 1 wall light.

3 exterior sensor lights

Consumer Unit: bonding to both gas and water

All switches, sockets and fused spurs where visible to be chrome and all cables to be chased into walls.

Garage: 25m 10mm SWA, 3 double sockets, 1 central light, two exterior lights and small CU

Large Shed: 35m 6mm SWA, 2 double sockets, 1 light, 1 small CU

50m trench work.

I've worked out a rough price of ÂŁ5,100 - is this reasonable? Any thoughts (helpful only, please) on whether I'm pricing too high/too low?

Many thanks

Victor

If you only ask for helpful comments many members might not respond :)

What make of accessories etc are you using - Hager, Wykex etc? What make of down Lights?

Under kitchen you've listed equipment and appliances. Are you just saying that you are wiring to them or that you are supplying them?

Why such high supplies to garage and shed? Have you done your cable calcs?

Location will also play a large part in the price, depending on competition etc.

Not sure this should be in the open forum but I think you could be on the high side....but.... only you have seen the job and met the customer.

Are you quoting this to the client or builder?

I'm assuming you are including Part P compliance and full testing.

I haven't actually priced it up in any way, but do think that with the work of the garage and sheds as well you are probably about there.
Looking at it I thought initially what that is too high, and then though in the cost of the chrome fittings and the 50m trenching and the supply cables and thought yes maybe OK.

That 50 metres X 60cm trench work isn't going to come cheap, with or without a labourer. I'd do my best to try and sub that work out, or make the homeowner responsible for that provision...lol!!

Both buried SWA cables may need to be 10mm 3 core if the house supply is PME/TNC-S and the buildings have any extraneous metalwork/services etc....

That's very cheap, with all them white goods. :stooge_curly:

Thanks for the replys.

The kitchen is for wiring only, no white goods and the downlights are Halers.

The garage is due to be used as a workshop and is of concrete and metal construction, so I thought that it might be wise to bond the metalwork even thought it will be RCD protected.

As for the shed, the 6mm swa may be a bit of an over kill but should there may be a need in the future for a heater.

Hope this gives you a bit more of an insight as to the nature of the job

Many thanks

Victor

i think your estimate is in the right ball park as long as someone else does the groundworks.

My initial thoughts were you were too expensive, however after seeing the shed and garage works you are probably in the right ball park. A big thanks from me by the way for showing what you allowed for and your estimate, due to this you have had helpful non sarcastic replies, I wish all members asking for help would post like you, well done fella.
