Am i ready for part p???

hi guys,
just after some advice pls, regarding joining a part p scheme. iv finished my level 2 2330, just started level 3, got my 17th edition cert. i have been working under an experianced spark for around a year now amd before that about 6 months as a mate doing social housing rewires (hope i never have to do them again). Im very confident in my work and take pride in it.
my boss is light on work so for the meantime i have no work at all. iv made a few calls and have some posibilities of doing some jobs for a local kitchen fitter but obviously everything would need to be signed off. any views on weather people think its too early for me to be entering a scheme or suggestions on different routes would be appreciated.
just really want some opinions from guys more experianced than me who have been around the block, as the cost of doing all this is pretty high.

as long as you dont do anything out of your skill level i cant see a problem with it as long as you can do the job and paperwork properly.

The main thing to consider is can you make it cost effective for now? Remember that as well as looking at your work and asking you a couple of rudementary tech questions, they'll mostly be looking at your bank balance for their £400+, plus costs for insurance, calibration etc. So the odd few hundred quid here and there from little jobs might not stack up for you.

Everyone knows that nobody ever fails a Part P inspection, so I wouldn't worry about that side of life!! If your previous boss rates you as good, then that's you more than half way there.

Why don't you work with the guy you normally work for and you both benefit. You get the jobs in and work with him (get a payrise) and he signs it off. I work with someone every now and then on this basis, saves me getting registered.

Im considering going with elesca, purely as they are cheaper as i think they pretty much all do the same thing. I thought about getting work and splitting it with him but he has enough work for himself, and i would rather be independent rather than rely on someone else.

I though about that , especially as he helped you out. Now he's in it a bit I would return the favour.

I would swat up on your testing because soon as your field officer comes out he's going to ask you stuff like :- what should you do if you have a high Ze which is simple you could either 1, increase the crops sectional area of cables (ball ache) 2, try bonding any metalwork or copper (pain) or 3, add a Rcd into the installation (simple stuff) but without knowing it the likes of this could put you under pressure during your assessment. Swat up little bits of a time and you will be fine.

Dont brick it man.....never heard of anyone failing one of these mate.....I just mean NAPIT have a great reputation of being friendly and approachable......no matter what whether it's half a day of interrogation an be little ing or a few hours of constructive conversation the moment they leave your job you will have them stickers all over you van

There the best sparks the kitchen fitters.....amazing the way kitchen fitting is like a 5 day course but still the learn everything about electrics and plumbing in them 5 days......
