Hi everyone,

I am sitting my AM2 exam a week today and was wondering if the metal trunking, cable tray etc needs bonded back to the MET in the board?

Will you fail if its not bonded or will it be a minor?

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks.

Metal trunking will generally require an earth if it contains low voltage circuits with continuity to the MET but not necessarily a direct connection to it. Cable tray does not however this is highly debated and you should do some research to enforce your actions if you decide to or not.

You are not required to bond the cable tray that is already pre-installed for you during the AM2.

So I wont loose any marks if the metal trunking or cable tray is not bonded. I thought though thay any exposed metal part than can become live under fault conditions and easy touched is supposed to be bonded? Or im I wrong?

What’s the debate against it westy?

If it’s extraneous or part of the electrical installation it gets bonded on my jobs. (Unless it’s fastened to something that already is. Steel frame work etc.)

Cheers.
