Just got back from completing my AM2. I have definitely failed the install due to running out of time, i have never been a fast worker compared to others though i do produce a good standard of work. My job is in maintenance so my installs are limited. My assessor went through my work and said i had done everything correct, another 45 mins and i would have completed it. Im not to bothered because i had no problem with the circuits, i was bricking it as well and made silly mistakes on the SY cable! i reconnected into the motor box 4 times!!...i missed off the gland, then missed off the washer, then had the gland on the wrong way! this cost me easily 30 mins!.........i found the past 3 days very intense. Anyone who does install day in day out will breeze the install time wise.....ill not know my other results until next week.

will update then.

Cheers

S h it!!....... just got a flash back of the inspection and testing!......will i fail for not completing the the test cert? i missed the type of circuit breaker off the test sheet? i put 60898 for the top one then i was going too go back and write the rest as i was doing another test but i forgot!

i did write the type for the RCBO.

Cheers mate......if you can control your nerves you should be fine....just want to get booked back in soon as!

Gutted about the test sheet....i was very confident that i completed the testing perfect!.....hope they dont fail me on the missing info.

Hows the job by the way?

Cheers......when your time comes feel free to ask me any questions you like, since youl be taking yours at Gateshead ill be able to tell you exactly how the assessor wants things done.

I job going well mate, full of busy. Love being able to plan my own day and get out and about, should be great in the summer going up paxton, berwick way!.....started on call and now get the perks of working for BT!

Hows the self employment coming along?

Sorry to hear about your exam.

I have mine on 16th of March. Any tips?
I only do new installs with my work so hopefully I'll be ok.

Have a plan before you go in of what order you are going to complete the circuits. Get all the protective devices in the board first. Read the diagram you get to make sure you dont make any silly mistakes, e,g a lad failed because he used 1mm cable instead of 1.5mm for the lighting circuit, if youre not sure pick the bigger cable, you will not fail if you over compensate though you will get a minor. Try and relax, lot easier said than done though. Any parts you are concerned about and have any questions ask away mate?? ill help were i can.
