Just opened and read that AM2 guide. What a complete waste of time that AM2 has now become, seems now an electrician has no need to demonstrate MICC, conduit and metal containment skills. This requirement has been replaced by installation and testing Cat5 systems FFS!!!

Seems too many candidates were failing on these removed items, so rather than spend any worthwhile more time on instruction, they were dropped completely!!!! Solves 2 problems in one go, the hiring of tutors without any practical installation skills whatsoever and an improved candidate pass rate to boot!!

We know that MICC has now almost crossed over to the so-called ''Specialist'' installers, but now it seems that the basic backbone of an electricians practical skills (eg, ...metal containment) is going in the same direction, straight down the pan...

And we still have those here, that are convincing themselves and others, that modern day Qualifications are equivalent or exceed those of my time, or of yesteryear ....Never in a month of bloody Sunday's

Find it strange that they drop the containment when surely thats an integral part of being an electrician?
