Hello everyone!
I want to make an ATS for a house, with two power supplies, One from the power supply company and the other from a 5.6KVA Generator.
I am facing a problem with the DC section of the starting mechanism, I want to make it so that,
it should start the generator in a few second automatically when the power supplying company does load-shadings due to unknown reasons.
It should make at least three starting attempts till the generator starts with an interval of prescribed time.
What kind of electrical timer of electronic circuit should I use for it.
Generator is a 230VAC, but the starting mechanism is 12 VDC.
The company supply obviously 230VAC.
The reaming parts are understandable other-than the starting system, please guide me in this regards or please provide me a pictorial Idea.

Thank you.

Use an undervoltage device to trigger a relay on the backup side.

I maybe just a little more complicated than you might think. To be on the safe side i would contact a specialist manufacturer and explain what your requirement are. They will probably have an off the shelf unit you can incorporate into your system.

Don't forget the Auto change back from GEN to DNO. A well set-up system will not need 3 start attempts, it should start first time every time!! Most systems will work around an under voltage relay (27 relay) with time delayed contacts.

Don't forget about earthing the neutral point of Genny, I would also think about a 3 pole ATS, so isolating the Genny earthing arrangement, from the DNO's, with a single phase set-up.

Info here, have used them in the past, v. good.

Thanks, It is really good one and I have understanding of it. I think this is good for AC utility and AC Gen.set which operates only on AC power, for those systems it will work and we have one installed working in our company, but the problem I am facing is, Starting a generator like in this link,
ELEMAX GENERATOR JAPAN: EX Series - Products Line up
Model: SH7600EX.
It is a manual start generator and its starting mechanism is DC operated.
Therefore I want to make it automatic with DC starting, with a DC timer or any DC circuit, which would be able to start it automatically.
If it not going to be start due to certain reasons, it should attempt three times for starting gen set, even then it is not starting the gen set, it should stop attempting after three attempts as per prescribed times.

Thank you, I will wait anxiously for you useful advices and suggestions sir.
Please tell me about DNO, do you mean distribution network operator?
Yes you are true about starting attempt, but some time due to certain reasons it happen and the generator starts after two to three attempts.
Due to this reason I am not implementing the remaining circuit.

You could probably buy an 'off the shelf' pre-built and certified one suitable for your needs, just as cheap if not cheaper than buying all of the parts seperately and assembling it yourself.

Iam all for building custom built units, but sometimes it is impossible to compete with pre-built units.

Which ever option you go for, make sure you have a mechanial interlock between your genset and mains supply. You dont want to send power down your Suppilers Mains cables (There could be someone working on them) Look and see what E54 has said, its very important to link your genset neutral to its own earthing point. If it dont have one, connect to the frame of the gen.
You can buy auto start units off the shelf from most generator suppliers, they should also have the interlocking contactors built into them.

I totally agree with Engineer54 and you sir.
This is more important thing for the safety of Gen. set and for people around.
But please suggest me a solution that I would be able to make it my self.
The per-fabricated boards are much expensive for us.

It will be a good idea but I don't have a circuit schematic or diagram.
