I have a trusty old Robin digital MM that's been with me for years, flies through its calibration every year, goes forever on a set of batteries, and has saved lives on more than one occasion.

One bit of kit I have been using more and more, and blame entirely for me getting lazier is a fuse finder kit - only a Martindale one, but it has the lighting bits too. Whoever thought tone tracers would come back in such a way. It's helpful kit though.

Multimeter. Especially when your struggling fault finding and the customer is mivoring. stick it on buzzer and the noise makes them think you know exactly what the fault is.

Knippex side cutters, slotted and phillips screwdrivers, flat file, half round file, needle nose round file, pliers,needlenose pliers, 3x 20mm and 3x 25 mm holesaws+ 2 each arbours for them, a pack of 6mm HSS steel drill bits,couple of 10mm HSS steel Drillbits, a pack of Bosch 12mm SDS Drill bits (200 mm and 300 mm long) 2 x 25mm Bosch SDS masonry bits,couple of 6mm Bosch masonry bits for doing fixings, a pack of wood and a pack of metal Bosch jigsaw blades, small non insulated screwdrivers for small items on low voltage, along with CK and Irazola terminal screwdrivers, also a few sets ear plugs, some blue shoe/boot covers (saves being chased from a classy office building) a good set of safety glasses and a set of safety goggles, a good set of gland pliers (glandies, handy for bushes) a pyro stripper, a good co-axial stripper, a set of wire strippers, a good (about 60 pounds) terminal crimp tool, a voltage tester and a Fluke Volt alert voltage detector pen.....add to that an Estwing hammer, a 110v Bosch SDS Drill, 24 Volt Hilti cordless drill, plasterers compact light x 3, a handy trans branded easy carry single socket 110v site portable transformer (1,5kva) which has a shoulder carry strap, a bush key , a Podger (anchor setting tool- for driving in 12mm Anchors for screwed rod) a 110v Bosch angle grinder and a cheapo heat gun for heat shrink, good bahco hacksaw and either Bahco or Ultra Brand Bi-hard cobalt blades(blue and gold coloured) a sandvik/bahco toolbox wood saw, a pad saw for awkward plasterboard....and thats your tool kit sorted.....if you are 100% self employed then 2 x tap and die sets, 1 made up for 20mm and 1 made up for 25 mm, a couple of spare threading cutters of 20mm and 25mm, a pipe bender, tin of fire alarm tester spray smoke,makita chopsaw, fire extinguisher and a packet of scafftag labels for your work site...

I knew someone who bought the biggest ugliest form of meter housed in a Custom Peli case. he would make this make a noise now and then and it would impress the hell out of customers. He thinks it came from a submarine ? !

Lol quality, My trick is to put the meter between the feed and switch wire at the light and ask the customer to turn the switch on and off, gives them value for money lol
