I've decided it's about time I bought another analogue multimeter, to rule out those occasional pesky 'ghost voltages'. Was just gonna buy a cheapish one, like the Dialog PLOO1 for ÂŁ15, as advertised by our forum sponsor. But I've seen the Fluke 114, which has a low impedance setting to reduce possibility of false ghost voltage readings. Trouble is, is another ÂŁ100. Old one broke, cos I dropped it probably, thought the Fluke would be bit more robust. What would you buy?

the meters with ghost voltage setting dont all work, have a google.

fluke sell a ghost voltage box that plugs into a digital multimer that gets rid of ghost voltage apparently and costs about ÂŁ30 on ebay

Yep saw the Fluke sv225, haven't got the meter to go with that, so pushes up me price. Googled that, only seem to come up with 'ghost voltages' and this thread!

Any of those old makes of analogue tester were good and most of them are easy to calibrate as well. The Avo might be a bit big and bulky to carry around for site work, I keep my Avos in the workshop and carry a Hioki around in the car. If you want a brand new tester of similar quality as an old Avo or Hioki maybe look at Kyoritsu

Just wondering how reliable that is though, against an analogue which isn't so robust maybe?
I personally would go with an analogue but I was raised on analogue testers so I'm biased. I can't comment on how good and reliable the Flukes are I'm afraid, I'm not a big Fluke fan and I've never owned or used any of their testers that come with the LoZ settings. I don't buy Fluke for the same reason I won't pay 4 times the amount for clothing with Nike written on it but that's just me and I know they're popular with the other guys around here.
