Having watched it all on BBC Parliament due to being laid up, Greg Barker seemed completely out of his depth with the main aim seeming to be who could score the most points off each other.

The price of 21p seems fixed with the cut off date of 12th December.

The reason he seemed to lean on the most was the current tarriff is wholely unsustainable wich was a left over from the Labour Government, and left meant the £830 million or so budget would be gone in a matter of months.

He also said that the return was only ever supposed to be in the 5% region, not the 15% it currently is.

I'd be delighted to show Greg Barker our folder of quotes. We haven't sold a single system with a payback of over 11 years. Where does he think they're suddenly going to arrive from now?

He's an idiot and I'm beyond furious.

I'm not involved in the PV industry per se (I dont install systems anyway) I do however take an avid interest in all things connected to the industry.

Now I may have missed something here but isn't the mess PV is in now, a legacy from the previous government and their whole 'spending beyond their means' existance??

Isn't the coalition merely trying to make what we have currently last longer by reducing the FIT as it was totally unrealistic to begin with hence the urgency of review??

Is Greg Barker solely to blame or is he trying to make the best of a bad lot albeit in a totally cack-handed way???

I'm not sure that PV is in a mess. The FIT was generous and it was always going to cost a lot of money. However, it still seems cheap to me.

What is the worst that can happen? Energy companies pay out more than they would like and a very small amount is added to other people's energy bills. Nothing more than that.

And what is the upside of this? Millions of homes producing their own energy and, in my experience, becoming far more interested in what energy they use. A thriving industry that has invigorated the tiring electrician profession, roofers, scaffolders and distributors. A great reduction in dirty energy and the rapid progression to a point where the FIT was not required at all - installing PV being worth the investment alone. All that money coming out of bank accounts and being thrust into the economy.

It was win, win, win, win. The only people that win now are the big energy companies themselves.

Thats our view on it Biggs, but i undertand there are major loopholes for the rent a roof bankers - income tax, 15% VAT returns, all the money syphoned offshore. The big boys were kicking the --- out of it and probably making a financial killing on a grand scale.

It's a complete travesty the way it has been handled, we've all been dumped in it and have basically lost all our investment of time and money. If they had announced it now and given a decent notice period then we could have all made a smooth exit, a lot of firms will shut up making any non insurance backed warranty worthless, not to mention the dogs dinner it will be for the next 6 weeks.

What’s got my goat isn't the rate nor the expected future energy rating certificate these can be looked at and invested in. My big problem is the introduction of the ridiculous time scale imposed and the current governments lack of for sight to see past the end of the day. We HAD! PV work booked into March 2012 now we have nothing on the PV side past 7th December. 6 Cancelled jobs today all before 3pm! Now looking online out of the remaining jobs we can’t get the panel we have allowed for so to make matters worse I've been made to put pressure on my customer to se if they will accept a panel change, more cost and less yield. (Sorry REAL!) just to keep the jobs booked for BEFORE 12th December. It's a joke and a farce and it show just how far removed from reality the current government is.

Now I accept it was a floored system inherited by and spend all government. The current lot are picking up the pieces nothing more but in all seriousness what is actually being saved by allowing systems that have been recorded with the REAL deposit scheme being allowed at the current rate. But there again the Government would have to know what the REAL scheme is and I bet they have no clue on that either!

Seeing panel product fall from over 3000 panels to 6 in under two hours also shows I am not alone in trying to achieve a living for the next five weeks.

The good points the rent a roof schemes are bye bye and as I know a company that I used to be a director of has only just started doing this with investment by another company I couldn’t be happier. Haha! Having ethical installations is great. For to long being the third or forth or more in the door to say to the client “have you not noticed that bloody great oak tree in your back garden?” or “Your roof is covered in shade” and the client being surprised at the fact it will NOT work on their roof as no one else has said anything! With the energy cert this will stop, wouldn’t it?

Now to top it off just found out that Lotus in Hethel, Norfolk ((jus up ta rod fram me boy!) Just up the road from me!) humour still there! Have just been given £10million pound grant to produce a new car from Government. Now that’s going to help the masses isn’t it? We can all take advantage of that when we all go out buying new Lotus next year or so. Buying petrol we can’t afford in a car we can’t afford to tax on roads we can’t drive fast due to speed cameras (that haven’t been switched off due to running costs) or the bloody pot holes that haven’t been repaired since last winter!

I ask you. What an utter shambles this is. Let the dust settle and I will see how I feel in a week or so.

Oh and as for writing to your MP or alike. I think I’ll save the ink!
