Another customer misled

I've been marching around in an incandescent rage all day due to the issues with the company using our company name and also losing out a job to a bunch of con artists.

This firm has been mentioned on the forum before but now I'm struggling to find the threads. I'm trying to work out exactly what the situation was with that before I mention them again.

We had been negotiating with a local lady and it was looking very likely that we were going to win the job. Found out this morning that she had already had the work carried out - BUT she feels that she has been misled. She has enough space for a 4kWp system, and we have designed her a 4kWp system. The other firm are only slightly cheaper than us and they've only installed (we believe) a 2kWp system. From what I can gather, they installers carried out the installation the day after the quote was given.

This company is both MCS and REAL registered. I'm hoping to get hold of the paperwork to see what can be done (if anything)

then she hasn't been given the statutory 7 day cooling off period and is entitled to her money back, if she paid.

That's kind of how I see it, but I have no idea what contracts she has signed.

if she's signed in her own house, she's entitled to cancel within 7 days, unless she's signed a separate disclaimer for them to install before the 7 days is up.

Has she paid in full?
If she has then cancelling the contract would be even more difficult, even with the

If you have given her good advice and a decent price to install, yet she has still gone ahead and asked someone else to install a system for her. I would just walk away why waste any more of your time?

She had the option to use you, decided not to, then expects you to run around finding out if she has been ripped off. You won't get to install anymore panels on if she has already paid will you?

At the end of the day if shes a grown adult in good mind, she chose another company on her own accord.

Ive had the same happen to me. They chose a cowboy then called me to say roofs leaking, so off i go on a sunday morning to check it out for free, for what? Were not charities we keep good reputations to earn money, if a customer choses somene else then they take their chances as far as im concerned in future.

I agree to an extent. But some of these companies are very good at what they do. And what they do is basically sell at all costs. I hate to see people ripped off and I'm going to see if I can get something done.

After all, I pay my REAL fees to stop this kind of thing happening.

Move on, we have all been there. If you can sleep at night all the better, knowing that you have provided a decent quote and service should be enough.

Get the proof and send it recorded delivery to Virginia Graham CEO of REAL making sure you write the word complaint in the opening paragraph.
REAL are obliged to deal with complaints.

However in reality nothing will happen and nothing will change. REAL claim to have no power to remove members and put it back to the MCS registration body who could not care less as they want the membership money.

We've been mistaken for Solarticity on a number of occassions.

The firm that is imitating us is literally called "Solar City".

I won't reveal the name of the firm which conned this lady as members of this forum have been threatened with legal action before and threads have been removed by admin stuff that criticise them.
