Hi all,
Just thought I would jump on and say hello.
Thinking about going self employed after 12 years of working for a company. Scary stuff but it's got to be now or never!!

Welcome iv just done the same after working for a company for 7 years i just set up my own company and so far its all good.

hi, ive just been forced to set up as self employed, due to redundancy!! i just recommend you have a few thousand pounds behind you as there are alot of things you need to pay for i.e insurances, NICEIC or similar and just the fact with alot of your jobs you will have to wait a few weeks for payment! and just general running of a van and other little costs you wouldn't expect!!

Hopefully I can start getting a few jobs done before I leave. Then I can register with NICEIC, ELECSA etc, get a cheap van,insurance etc before I have to fend for myself.

Welcome to the abyss. Good luck with your venture, i am just in the process of winding from self employment, and moving into teaching it. Good luck if it works it is very rewarding, but serious hard graft and long hours.
