feeling slightly horrified by some of the information and stories I've read regarding these guys, having had the "sales" meeting thought I would do some background checking to see if they are even slightly legit.
Funny thing is most of the bad reviews I've seen are from 2014/15 and don't add up with what I was told about how the course would work. So much wiser sparky's I'm seeking your wisdom
Firstly I tried the College/Night school, Apprenticeship route already and got full blown rejected due to medical complications (long story, been working 6 years without problems and could do so if GP would stop trying to just force feed meds :90: anyway off topic)
They seem to have pitched the course very differently to me than those who have had bad experience's have mentioned.
Here is the gist,
within 12-18 months I will have the required theory and basic knowledge to work as an Electricians Mate, and complete minor additions to existing electrical works and sign-off without calling in another electrician to do so.

Then it would take a further 1/2 years to complete the Level 3 NVQ's
but in no way did they attempt to make out this was a fast-track to ÂŁ1200 a week kind of deal, and they also encouraged me to attempt to find an employer ASAP (for a trainee role) as that is the only way to gain the real experience necessary to do the Level 3 NVQ's and to be taken seriously as a Electrician.
I'm still in the cooling off period until Monday and yes I already know its a ridiculous amount compared to college, but coming from an IT with combined HSE Quals it cost me around 4-6K every couple of years to upgrade anyway plus already attempted that (see above)
P.s. more digging around the BBC watchdogs investigation & Company/Director history for up to 2014 is terrifying (mother works as Fraud Analyst so she passed some wisdom along) but things seem to have changed since then. I even found some plumbers who went via these guys sub-companies and did manage to get on well.
so bottom line, even given the more realistic view given of the course and the way it is set out have I still been completely taken for a ride? or Has new management actually done a massive turnaround with these guys?
Hoping for a pleasant surprise,
Nary
