Any one know how to create drop down menus in MS Excel.

I want to create some so that when you select an item, say a double socket, it also bring the price into another cell.

Trying to modify my existing estimate sheet, where at the minute everything is put in manually. My aim is to create a list of materials i always use, then just select them from a drop down menu.

Any ideas?

Using Excel 2010

List options in a row or column
Go to cell for drop down list - go to Data>Data Tools>Data Validation select list and highlight the list you've just created.

If you use Excel Help and search for drop down list it'll give all the details.

Ok, so we are the nerdy bunch then..... to do what you want you will need YellowVanMans Validation (to create the dropdown) but then Vlookup command to get the answers from your price list.

I will email you a sample file.

Cheers guys. Managed to do as yellow man says and got that bit to work, its now the part to bring in the price for each item.

LineProducts, will have a look at you file. Once I've seen it in action will probably be able to suss out, thanks to you both
