OK i have put a false ceiling in my cloakroom with two hispec 240v- 11w downlight's which are wired correctly ,i then bought a Luxomat Occupancy sensor that i have tried to wire to the switch wire all on the live side ! the Luxomat has three terminals LL'N WHATEVER COMBINATION I TRY it will not switch the lights -on :frown: Any ideas please? when i take the switch-wires out and touch them together the lights come-on !! look forward to you repies guys .......

You got the Lux and Time settings correct on the sensor? You got the housing removed from the actual sensor (sometimes comes fixed to narrow/shorten the width and range of the sensor)

Could be the fact that it's just too bright to work when you're trying it.....

Does this sensor also require a neutral? Have you give it one?

Follow the manufacturers instructions to the T including setting up .... majority of things don't work correctly because people fail to do the simple task of reading the instructions.

If the 11w lamps are cfl then using an occupancy sensor is a bad idea you will be seeing drastically reduced lamp life to the point the cost of replacing lamps will out way the energy you may save by the lights auto turn off when unoccupied.

Good point Tel' although their are sensors out there that don't require Neutral some use the light as a false N when not switched but come with a minimum lamp rating to operate and others have a battery to do the switching and sensing,

What telectrix said! Even though it's a switch, almost all pir's need a neutral for the little led that flashes when it picks up movement amongst other things!

Yes mark i get the wife to set the sensor as she has more patience ( should be perfect LOL ) i have the terminals exposed , when i first touch the live on the terminal the lights flicker then go-off ......

As I said above if the lamps are compact fluorescents then don't bother with the sensor ... back to the drawing board and yes as Murdoch noted its clear your not an Electrician so please post in the DIY section not here.

Not had any experience with these before, don't suppose it's Live, Switched live and a neutral is it? as with most stand alone PIRs.

Most certainly a lack of neutral is your issue, installed a lot of luxomat sensors recently and found them very good for setting up etc also if anybody uses Wf senate, some of there own range sector sensors are rebranded luxomat ones and cheaper

Can't you just pull a 3 core & earth through from your lights to your PIR? The cores will then be permanent live, switched live and neutral.
