Ok mate, TBH i am not sure, how long is this course and what qualifications will you get once competed?

I am doing the City & Guilds 2357 at my local college. The first thing we did was some science and principles of electricity and health and safety i believe.

any course that contains a domestic installer cert/section is worrying because it makes it seem like a fast track course

a lot of the people that go on this course don't know the difference between a philips and pozi let alone which end to use

Hi yes ive done the coursework at home so its done in my own time, so however long it takes. As far as knowing the type of screwdriver I do ive been in the trade working for a long time but I just needed the paper to say so. Theres no need for rudness and being patronising.

I wouldn't be worried at all. You are going there to learn, so you will not be expected to know much. It is a training centre, training centres train people in their chosen vocation. People who train other people (like myself) should have been trained properly themselves to deal with different abilities and preferred learning styles of those that they train. If they haven't, then they are in the wrong job. We all have our own discreet way of finding out these things without coming straight out with things like who can do this that and the other. So turn up wide eyed and willing, and you will be fine.

Cheers..............Howard

Nothing to be nervous about, you're not going to get thrown straight into anything complicated so relax, go with the flow and take in as much as you can. Anything you don't understand, ask about. They're being paid to teach you so make sure they earn their crust.

Update
Howard beat me to it yet again :)

Your going to be in a workshop and classroom full of people just like you and the tutors do this week in, week out and know what your going through. First day "back to school" can be scary even for an adult! We have all done it, after the level 2 & 3 courses there is the 2391, IPAF, CSCS/ECS, HVAC, FIA (fire alarms), etc etc etc. Back to school can be differcult but you will be fine after the first morning

By the sounds of it your already working in the field so some of this will be like a duck to water. Good luck and keep us informed.
