i have to drain a tribune water cylinder . the normal drain outlet on cylinders you can put a hose pipe straight on but the tribune is about an inch, ant ideas how to get from that to my garden hose

You'd be surprised how big a garden hose can be made with a heat gun though an inch may be pushing it. Worth a try, you can just cut the end off the hose when you're finished. There's always self amalgamating tape as well.

Sounds like the person who installed failed to put a drain cock on the lower water inlet, if so depending on the pipe work allowing, frezze it and cut into it and adapt the pipework and fit one like it should be.

EDIT: Obviously use compression joints as you wont solder it

You could also fit the hose to a funnel (assumes you've the space to put the funnel under the drain tap!!).

You could try one of these Round Mixer Tap Connector: 2177 - Hozelock always handy to have bits and pieces like this in the toolkit

machine mart do a 10 metre lay flat hose in 1" bore for about 12 quid,and charge it to the job,better that than messing about for 12 quid hope this helps
