me and.the mrs have decided to make a surprise christmas visit back to the uk to spend some time with the family . been looking at flights recently. we usually fly emirates as reasonably priced but roughly around the £1100 return each which i thought was abit too much for both of us, qatar had a promotional offer on which worked out at £670 each return which was cheaper than malaysia airlines and china airlines etc . anyway we booked it via their website just wanted abit of feedback as to what they are like ?.. thanks , maddison

they're big metal tubes with wings like birds. the better ones have 4 engines in case 1 or 2 break.

Yes i've flown with them on several occasions, to the Middle/Far East as well as here to China, they are up there with the very best of them. You'll not be disappointed. I think they are one of the few airlines as being rated 5 star, ....or was!! lol!!

Maybe because it's not a direct flight (as such) from LON to SYD, so check the stopover time at Doha, it maybe over the standard 1 hour in which case you may have to exit the plane or change aircraft. Have you checked to overall flight Depart and Arrive times between LON-SYD??

Or it could well be a straight promotional offer that all airlines come up with to put bums on seats if they are forecasting a slump during a certain period (most airline seats are booked 2 to 3 months in advance)... or want to get a good market share of a known busy period.

ha no but i was waiting for someone to say that. we already have a return leg to use ( emirates from adelaide to london next month ) this is for our flight back to Australia, we like to have a return available just incase we needed to get home for any reason and not pay through the roof

Best flight I've ever done (and that's a LOT, trust me!) was the BA red-eye from Chicago back to London, when I was a whip of a 19yr old, copped off with a stunning ranch girl from Texas called Yumi and joined the 3 mile high club in the back of the almost empty flight. The cabin crew knew exactly what was going on and just drew the curtain and left us to it! You wouldnt get that happening now, someone would thing we trying to explode something.

Crazy as it may seem, the price of tickets for exactly the same route can be poles apart depending on where you ''Start'' the flight. For example a LON - SYD / SYD - LON can often be a much cheaper ticket than a SYD - LON / LON - SYD ticket!! You used to be able to purchase a backwards/inside out ticket in the destination country, for the cheaper price but you can't do that any more either.

Airline ticket pricing has been a total mystery to me for decades, try as you may, you will never make any sense out of them, it's as if they pull prices straight out of the air, literally from one day to the next!! lol!!!!
