We've had an unsolicited email from a company called Blackbox claiming to be able to help us avoid corporation tax as much as legally possible. They claim to be able to work with your current accountant/advisor.

Black Box | Expert Wealth Strategies for Individuals, Corporations & Trustees

Anyone heard of them?

We will have quite a high tax liability for a small, newish company and with things so uncertain for the coming year it would be nice not to have to hand it all over.

Any thoughts?

For what its worth im always sceptical of things like this, and they cost more in "commision" than its worth sometimes - if they were any good i doubt they would be sending out random emails, but then again we all need new custom.

For the their target market the website looks like its been done by a school leaver if that means anything.

Check em out on companys house, see how long they been trading, i doubt they can do anything better than your accountant could - as DP says, there no hiding from the tax man.

Just to follow up on this if anyone has any interest, it involves putting cash into a trust which then lends it back to you as a permanent loan... Sounds complicated... Our Chartered accountant of many years standing has never heard of it...

I think the Treasury are not far away from a law that states that all schemes which are set up solely in order to avoid tax will be classed as tax avoidance (sounds obvious, right) even if what they are doing, as in this case, is not illegal in itself.
So there won't be long left for firms to exploit these loopholes. I'd steer well clear. Plus the fact that we do actually need to pay if we want decent hospitals, schools etc, although I agree with the earlier comment, I wish all the top banks and high net worth individuals weren't able to easily skip out of these obligations with various accounting tricks.
