Anyone dealt with Faarup Associates

Afternoon all.

Any of the midlands based installers ever had dealings with Faarup building consultants in Lichfield? Did an involved and lengthy quote for them a while back (multi roof aspect, masses of shading, no brief from client sort of thing - the type of quote that would really require a face to face to extoll its virtues and discuss possible alternatives, which I stated at the time). Anyhoo, I hear nothing until today when an email plops into my inbox saying thanks for the quote, sorry you weren't successful, here's another one I want a quote for. Quickly followed by another. Much as I'd love to oblige, we are talking very large, complex houses, surrounded by trees and other shading obstacles. It will take me a long time to survey and design a suitable system. Am I wasting my time? Has anyone dealt with similar? Wouldn't mind if we were dealing face to face with the homeowner, but we're not. I shall think of a way to find out if he is wasting my time or not, without actually saying that but in the meantime I would like to hear other opinions. The fact I am ****ed off with the whole pv situation is not helping either... hard to get motivated.

Never heard of them. It might be worth a phone call to see what they are playing at.

It sounds very frustrating. How about just giving them a guide price. It sounds like they may want to milk you (and probably other decent installers) for info and then use a cheaper installer.

ask em what price they're targeting. they might play ball, then go see if you can make it worthwhile for that price or not.

Cheers chaps. Looks like he's basically after the cheapest price for a seemingly randomly selected, inappropriately sized system for each property, plus the cheapest price for the maximum number of panels we can fit. I shall be leaving this one to the men in shiny suits.
