Anyone got any tips to make marking out lights easier?

Just wondering if any of you guys had any helpful tips to make marking out lights better and quicker?

Forget lasers and the like
Do it the old fasioned almost flawless way
Use screws and string line
A typical room can be set out to perfection before any of the ceiling is marked or drilled
You have a grid of string that can be altered effortlessly and without damage until perfection is reached

I have used both the laser and the builders chalk line. The builders string line is the best and I just tap in a nail and stretch it to the next nail. Spend a lot of time measuring and rechecking, sames money in the long run. I drill a 6mm hole at each light site and insert a bent piece of bullwire which allows me to feel around for joists which are too close. Then I make the necessary adjustments to avoid the joists, then drill the cutout size with confidence. I always work on my own and this seems to work well enough.
Sometimes I mainly use the lasewr to throw up a line to give the customer an idea what the line of lights will look like before i cut.

Mark out the lighting layout on the floor and use plumb laser to transfer to ceiling ,

did my bedroom when i first started out, pencil and tape measure. took a while but they are bang on was well impressed when i finished them all bang on aswell
