Hi I've been a spark for over 15 years now and recently done the EAL inspection and testing. Signing up with napit too.

Seems to be a load of confusing conflicting information on what your meant to do during a Fuseboard change. With regards to the initial inspection and testing. I've been told I should be doing a global Insulation resistance test to identify any faults on the circuits before I start, but for that to work won't it mean disconnecting all the led lights and any fixed equipment.

IIm wondering if there are any willing electricians in my area who have abit more experience with this than me who would let me come testing with them just to get away with it.

Can't help in any way practically, but the resources here are a sound starting point:
https://www.----------------------------/professional-resources/best-practice-guides/

In particular the "Best Practice #1" covers CU changes in both planned and emergancy situations and is pretty sound advice, also #4 is quite good guide to EICR coding (both better than some of the schemes, etc).

It should give fairly accurate results. Bear in mind your car will probably have a smart charging system, so worth having a read up on those.
