Alright lads
am I right in thinking that the rules are changing reguarding the requirements for a competant persons assessment, at the mo its minimum is 17th ed but ive heard its changing to a minimum of level 3 if this is correct does anyone know exactly when cheers

The requirement to become a QS will be raised to a level 3 qcf qualification.
IIRC (& I may not) as of 1/1/12.
C&G/Summit Skills are rolling out a L3 qualification for a QS shortly as I understand things.
I looked over some Summit Skills stuff recently wrt to this.

I very much doubt the scheme providers will up the ante on requirements to join there ranks. They are a business, and like all other businesses just want your cash. There is no way on this planet they will put themselves in a position to refuse your hard earned.

Cheers..........Howard

I have just paid my money to NAPIT, they told me only affecting apprentices doing 2330 soon to be 2357 as they dont want a level 2 person with no experience setting themselves up (their words). As far as i and many others are concerned, 17th is all that is needed and 2391 or their trade test equivalent done within a year. So the short courses will continue for the more mature person and people will get into the trade that way (their words).
No matter what they do there will always be a way to get papers you need. EG a few years ago when they decided all site workers need a CSCS card (another gov money spinner) and to get one you needed to get a NVQ, lots of guys in all manner of trades with years of experience said sod that not going to college to gain one of them, but you dont need they say, pay us some more money and have an onsite assessment, after approx 3 months you have an NVQ, my brother did a 5 day plastering course, told them he had been a plasterer 15 years, they gave him an onsite test and now he's NVQ qualified lol, shocking.
