Just seen an ad for a company claiming to be registered members of HEAT.

My old gaffer was a member back in the mid 90's but I thought they had stopped to be around then aswell.

Cant find any reference on the net, anyone know if they're still around???

Hi Lenny, The last I heard of them, I think they were responsible for implementing the last government's energy efficiency grant scheme. Qualifying pensioners, benefit claimants and people on low income could apply for a grant to have insulation, draft exclusion, storage heating and/or central heating fitted. It became mired in controversy, with tales of really shoddy work and long waiting lists. The in-trays of Which, CAB and MPs were overflowing ... after several goes at re-jigging of the system, I think it was killed off in the end. Any self respecting members probably left the HEAT scheme in order to preserve their reputations.

Well, I didn't know that.

I thought they dissapeared fairly sharpish. I just remember seeing the stickers on his vans when I started, but they never got put on any of the new ones that came along.

Can see why now.:cool3:

Hi
HEAT "Heat Electric Advisory Team" run through SWALEC, ceased a long time ago. A independent group did try to start again about a year after the original HEAT stopped, but they had little interest and faded away quickly.
regards
