Anyone using Kewtech MFT's?

Im looking to buy a new MFT after Christmas and like the look of the Kewtech meters.

Has anyone used the KT64DL or KT65DL?

What are you opinions on them?

KT63; not a 64 or 65, sorry. The 63's a good little meter.

Have two KT65s, very good meters, only gripe is that it defaults to anti-trip on loop for every test. This can be tiresome as the anti-trip test takes many more seconds than a normal test. You have to press another button and remove the lock on the test button for every reading. Servicing has been very good over the years as its pretty local to where I live

I can see how that could be tiresome doing that every test.

I read that the KT65 can also be used as a portable appliance tester, have you tried this? Is it any good?

I've got a kt64, it serves me fine with few problems. After 3 years it has not needed any repairs .

But it defaults to 250V IR tests ever time you switch it off, this winds me up no end when I forget and don't notice until halfway through a 24 way TP board!

I used a megger for a while when subbing to a company, it was nice with its automatically starting tests when you connect the leads, but far too clever with its ability to store Zdb and backwards calculate an R1+R2 for you which I think encourages sloppy/lazy testing.

I have the adaptor but I think used it once. Don't do much PAT

I've got the pat adaptor (it was free with the tester) , only used it a handful of times though.
It's not great though as you can't carry out half of the tests required for pat with it!

I've just got rid of my KT64 due to the selector knob keep failing and the company who usually deals with the repairs talked me out of buying a fluke and Megger and told me to buy the KT63. It seems a good little tester but gave only gad it a few days so time will tell..

Interesting, I have noticed my kt64 sometimes flickering between continuity and IR settings of the knob is not turned past that setting and then returned to it

That's the exact same thing and it just gets worse and worse hence the change.

I had been looking at Megger before I saw the Kewtech MFT but didn't want to pay £800 for it. Im now undecided if I should pay more as I can see the little niggles with the Kewtech annoying me.

TBC the reason I bought the KT63 is because it a par an tlc does not suffer with the same issues as the 64 and does pretty much everything the dearer one does

I didn't even look at the KT63 as I thought it would be too basic but having just had a look at the manual it looks good. I think it could be a winner.

That was my feeling when I looked into it too. I put a pretty lengthy review of it (KT63) on Test-Meter.
