Anyone wired up one of these before or similar.....?

'Elizabeth' Garden Building - Redwood Collection | Crown Pavilions

Quite limited to where I can fix things. They will be having a 3kw infra-red heater, roof suspended, 4 x angled spots set up into roof also and 1 x double 13a socket.

Don't really know where is best to locate my mini CU ? Up in the roof also, seems like I dont have much choice.

Any thoughts please...?

Thank you - Sy:)

(got a nice 50m run from the house to get there - got to go from ground floor CU right up into loft across and down the other side.... no other way, patio/tarmac etc... then finished off with a 15m trench!)

I'd be a little nervous about having a big old heater in a tinder box like that! Looks like it would be asking for trouble! lol Also I would want to put in energy efficient lighting because of the heat aspect seeing as how any form of halogen projector type lamp (GU10 or MR16) must be mounted so it cannot be directed at a flammable surface <500mm away. I'm sure you could sell them on some nice LED fittings and a Masterseal socket since they're already paying £5000 or so for the shed thingy. I think i'd be tempted to fit a IP rated consumer unit on one of the external walls so as to avoid ruining the look of the thing and run all cabling in conduit.

Thanks Dunc.... sorry bit more info - heater all ready comes hung in the correct position by the company building the pavilion - they fit them all time apparently. Was definitely going for an IP rated CU, but there are no walls as such just balustrades, bit of a pain but there is always a way somehow. pavilion company are also supplying lights @ £60 each !! bargin

Cor, some people know how to print money! lol How about mounting the consumer unit slightly remote from the pavilion on a garden wall or even erect a couple of fence posts with a small fence panel on it somewhere out of sight. You can then run 3x SWA cables for the lights, heater and socket. The consumer unit is going to be the biggest eye sore by far so if it's out of sight then you're on to a winner. A fair bit more work doing it this way but potentially better as i think aesthetics are going to be key in this sort of scenario.

Like the fence post idea.... just worried about it sitting to close to the ground thats all... would look much better though

I've done this before mounting a small consumer unit in a Sarel box supplying lighting for a horse riding arena. Used 6' fence posts sunk 1.5' in the ground and bedded in with post mix. Sarel box was mounted about 300mm off the ground with the consumer unit inside atleast 450mm above floor level. Unless the area is susceptible to flooding i would just aim to have the consumer unit atleast 450mm to the base which would even satisfy Part M of Building Regs if you have to worry about such things.

I had to work on one very similar, the owner/mate made up a bracket to plug the heater in, but something a little larger could accommodate a CU.
