Hi Everyone, been to look at a job last week where ive done a bit of work previously, its a wholesale food warehouse. They have a large freezer with 9 hi bay lights in and they want these changed to a more energy efficient variant with its own pir. Ive never priced something like this before and speaking to one of the blokes who works there its -20 all day every day.
Ill need a scaffold as its all about 7/8m up in the air which is fine, might be a bugger to build it but obviously with the temperature a battery scissor lift is out of the question. I get quite a bit of good work from these so dont want to overprice or take the wotsit. They wanted to use some lights we previously used in the warehouse but according to the bumf they wont work properly at that temp so Ill need to source some more.
Really just looking for a few pointers and what to expect, what ill need, how long you can stay working for etc.

Regards
J

It was a good while ago when I worked on lighting in a commercial freezer and the lighting was never turned off if it was the lamps would not strike and had to be removed warmed up and reinstalled warm for them to strike

With LED high bay lights there are some rated to -30°C so that maybe an option but it is possible the heating and cooling of the fitting may cause internal condensation so would need to be checked with the manufacturer

Not quite a freezer, but an ice rink.

Years ago, changing the SON lamps in their highbays.
Had to watch dismantling scaffold not to place a warm scaffold pole on the ice as it would cause a dent.

No good for curling, and even less good for skating over.

Sorry. No help. 😄
