Hi

What are the general rules for PV installed in an area of outstanding natural beauty? Same as for conservation area? or more strict?

Thanks
S

When I looked at it a few weeks ago for a job in a conservation area and AONB, the permitted development regulations did not mention AONB, so permitted development was permitted development irrespective of it being an AONB. If you are having to go for planning permission for any reason then I expect the AONB aspect will come into play.

There is no substitute for ploughing through the regulations if you can.

We are an AONB, Conservation area and World heritage site - didn't need planning permission for on roof installation but the planners needed reminding about the amendment to the Town & Country Planning Act 2008 Oct which states that permission for roof mounted installations that faces onto the road isn't required anymore.

For those that like reading the actual rules rather than believing what planners tell them, then the documents are:
SI 675 2008 and SI 2362 2008.
Put each of those into google and go to the legislation.gov.uk site.
You can then get a pdf of each and have the rules precisely.
Regards
Bruce

Hi all.
Just to add a point of interest the change to the permitted development rights for conservation areas and the like, only apply to England and not Wales, i`ve just had confirmation today from the national parks authority and the local planning office, hope this might help smoth your applications a through bit.
